THE IMPORTANT OF A PROPER MAINTENANCE
For the last 12 months, due to the COVID19 we have seen through our customers an increase number of requests related to the maintenance of their water treatment & filtration appliances. Families and business, stay or work more at home and they are using their equipment more than ever. The COVID19 has also raise the awareness of the importance of good quality water for drinking, showering, cleaning among other.
Water purifiers – osmosis machines and water filters: from these machines you drink water; therefore, from a security standpoint, they are top priority. Non appropriate maintenance can lead to poor water quality and what is more concerning, bacteria build up, which could make you sick.
DEIAX-AQUOS® recommends servicing these machines every six months combined with a water analysis to ensure that the water parameters are satisfactory. Usually the first 6 months service, is a lighter service where you may have to change some consumables (each model is different) depending on the water quality where you live and the number of litters you drank. Then on the annual service, you run a deeper service. You change the required consumables, and we recommend you run a sanitation procedure to disinfect the water circuit. This is extra important for units having a water tank or in areas where there is no chloring (i.e., private wells).
Water softener: they also require maintenance, but they tend to be less time consuming. The common maintenance procedure on water softeners is to measure the hardness of the water, reprogram the hardness (hardness changes all the time) on your water softener (unless you have a fully automatic system like a Judo) clean or replace the pre-sediment filter (depending which filter type you have) and if needed wash the salt tank. This last one is important because otherwise, the salt, in particular poor-quality salt, can create a salt plaque formation, preventing salt from dissolving with water properly.
We like to emphasize the importance of good quality salt. We have learned through the years, that when you purchase poor quality salt, it not only cost you more (dissolves much faster) but also, the water softener is not operating properly. Ideally you want to have premium vacuum tablet salt that dissolves homogeneous over time to ensure the right mixture of water and sodium for an effective regeneration of the water softener.
UV lights & Dispensers: for these appliances we recommend an annual service. UV lights once a year you change the light bulb to ensure that the ultraviolet energy beam, is strong enough to sterilize the microbes and bacteria. During this procedure we also clean the quartz chamber. This procedure has to be done with latex gloves and avoid touching the inner chamber of the UV light.
Water dispensers, usually filtrated water of high-quality runs through them; therefore, they required service once a year to run a special sanitation procedure with hydrogen peroxide, which is a disinfectant. In some cases, if you have been running hard water, you may have lime build up (in particular in the HOT versions, minerals precipitate), which results on poor functioning of the unit. In those cases, a special descaling procedure is required.

Proper maintenance will ensure your safety, will save you money and you will avoid unpleasant surprises with machines breaking down. All these will result on your peace of mind.
